A new extreme Jaguar XE SV Project 8, line-up of more than 100 Aston Martins and Marcos 60th anniversary display are just part of the high-octane Beaulieu Supercar Weekend on August 3rd and 4th.
The unmissable family day out, sponsored by specialists A-Plan Insurance, celebrates the adrenalin-fuelled world of supercars with more than 500 jaw-dropping supercars already booked to join the two-day show in the grounds of the National Motor Museum.
Jaguar fans will be spoiled with the arrival of a very special machine, as Jaguar Land Rover brings its new Jaguar XE SV Project 8, a hand-built performance saloon which is sure to impress with its 592bhp supercharged V8 engine.
Also set to stun event-goers is the Aston Martin Owners Club, which will take its place in the showground for the weekend with more than 100 Aston Martins. Get up-close to these amazing motors and look for examples of the much-loved DB7, as the model celebrates its 25th anniversary. Turning heads, with its twin-turbocharged V12 engine, will be the sleek Aston Martin DBS Superleggera TAG Heuer which is one of just 50 examples built in collaboration with watchmaker TAG Heuer.
The first-class display by Club Marcos International will celebrate 60 years of the respected British performance car marque Marcos, with a special line-up from the firm’s fascinating back catalogue.
More car clubs will be out in force at the show, including 50 machines from McLaren Owners UK. New Forest area Morgan Sports Car Club will also showcase its members’ cars.
Owners of a variety of supercars are already getting set to take part in the show, with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Mercedes, Noble, Tesla, KTM, Ginetta and Ultima, while leading supercar manufacturers will showcase their latest models.
See incredible machines in action with demonstration runs, taking place twice daily on Beaulieu’s Chestnut Avenue, as the acceleration and braking of these supercars is put to the test. Watch the action first-hand or see the giant screen on the Events Arena as it is broadcast live.
Enjoy supercar sound-offs, as supercars are pitted against each other to discover which engine has the best-sounding exhaust note. Will it be a deep rumble, racy rasp or throaty roar that wins the biggest cheer from the crowd?

AN ACTION-PACKED WEEKEND OF WORLD-CLASS HISTORIC RACING
GT & Sports Car Cup DHF 2019
The ninth Donington Historic Festival delivered hugely-competitive racing from more than 400 historic cars spanning nine decades and ranging from Grand Prix machines and Le Mans prototypes to Touring Cars over the weekend of May 3, 4 and 5.
The calibre of the racing grids, the lure of the Donington Park circuit and the sheer fun of historic motorsport drew top-class drivers past and present, including no less than one-sixth of the present-day BTCC grid that had been out at the same track only the previous weekend. BTCC stars Colin Turkington, Andrew Jordan, Rory Butcher, Sam Tordoff and Adam Morgan all got behind the wheel of classic Touring Cars or sports cars and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, racing with the same competitive spirit they show in their ‘day job’. Other present-day racers competing at the Festival included LMP star Richard Bradley, multi Formula Ford champion/British GT driver Niall Murray and British GT racer Shaun Balfe.
Names from race programmes of the past were also out on track including 80s and 90s Touring Car aces Patrick Watts and Karl Jones, while 1970s F1 racer Howden Ganley was there in his capacity as World Patron of the Formula Junior Historic Racing Association, presenting the trophies for the FJHRA races.
The cars competing were equally illustrious. They included ERA ‘R4A’, which scored a double victory in the Nuvolari Trophy races, some 84 years after Pat Fairfield drove it to victory in the 150-mile 1935 Nuffield Trophy at Donington Park. The Nuvolari Trophy grid also featured an MG K3 Magnette raced in period by Prince Bira of Thailand, while the Jaguar Classic Challenge included a semi-lightweight E-type originally raced by Bruce McLaren.
While torrential rain ensured that only the most die-hard racing fans came to Donington Park for the Friday qualifying day, those that did brave the elements were rewarded by a spectacular show on track, as all 15 grids qualified in the wet. An added bonus for Festival visitors was the sight of the historic F1 car demonstration on a very soggy circuit, spraying water and looking for all the world like a scene from that famous Senna race of 1993.
Saturday morning dawned with blue skies and sunshine and brought the crowds with it. The track action over Saturday and Sunday didn’t disappoint, with hard-fought, massively entertaining racing played out across 17 races covering an impressively diverse range of grids all united by the quality and history of the cars and the skill and enthusiasm of the drivers.
Victory in both Historic Grand Prix Cars Association Ascari Trophy races went to Miles Griffiths in a Lotus 16, while Nick Topliss drove ERA ‘R4A’ to victory in the Nuvolari Trophy races. The driver pairing of Calum Lockie and Julian Thomas proved hugely successful, with the duo taking the chequered flag in the Jaguar Classic Challenge in an E-type and in the Historic Touring Car Challenge in a Ford Cosworth Sierra RS 500, and bringing their Ford Falcon home in second place in the HRDC Allstars race, behind Leo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield in the Shelby Cobra Coupe.
In the U2TC for under two-litre Touring Cars, the Banks brothers Andrew and Max were runaway winners in their beloved Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, while Frederic Wakeman and Patrick Blakeney-Edwards continued their dominance of the ‘Mad Jack’ Pre-War Sports Cars in the 1928 Frazer Nash Super Sports. The Wakeman/Blakeney-Edwards duo also won the epic two-hour GT & Sports Car Cup in the Lister Jaguar Coupe and there was a Lister victory in the Stirling Moss Trophy when Richard Kent took the chequered flag in the Lister Jaguar Costin.
Former British GT champion Mike Jordan started the HRDC Touring Greats race on pole in the Austin ‘GT40’ he shared with son Andrew, and Andrew took the car to victory after the pitstop. Reflecting on a happier Donington Park weekend after his accident in the BTCC there a week before, Andrew commented “I haven’t had that much fun in a race car for a while. I had an absolute blast.”
The Pre-63 GT race was won by GT driver Jon Minshaw and his son Jack in an E-type Jaguar, the pair sharing a race car for the first time, and there was a father-and-son victory in the Tony Dron Trophy when Oliver Bryant and dad Grahame brought their mighty Chevrolet Camaro home in first place. The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy was another family affair, with brothers John and Gary Pearson taking the chequered flag in their D-type Jaguar.
Peter de la Roche dominated both of the FJHRA/HSCC ‘Silverline’ front-engined Formula Junior races in his Lola Mk 2, in spite of a gearbox problem in Friday’s qualifying which meant a drive to Chester that night to manufacture a replacement component, while Cameron Jackson was equally successful in the two rear-engined Formula Junior races in his Brabham BT2. And the Swiss duo of Ambrogio Perfetti and Oscar Rovelli campaigned their Lotus Cortina with tremendous enthusiasm in several races during the weekend and were absolutely delighted to take victory in the final race of the Festival, the HRDC Coys Trophy.
The non-racing attractions were equally entertaining. The historic F1 demo cars, including an Ex-Michael Schumacher Benetton B192 thrilled the crowds with their inimitable noise, while the sight of a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire in the skies above Donington Park on the Sunday had all eyes turned upwards for a few glorious minutes. Donington’s Launch Pad building became the temporary home of the British Historic Kart Club, who brought along a fantastic selection of nippy machines including two ex-Senna karts.
The Infield and the GP Loop were invaded by hundreds of cars from dozens of car clubs, many of whom took to the track in lunchtime parades. The most notable club parade element came on the Saturday in the form of 50 ‘Z’ cars from the Z Club GB/Classic Z Register, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Datsun 240Z. They were led by the most famous ‘Z’ car of all, racing star Big Sam, which was followed by no less than 15 other Samuris and a fabulous mix of Datsun and Nissan ‘Z’ cars from the past 50 years.
Paired with more improvements to the Donington infrastructure over the winter months, including a big new spectator entry area and a more immersive paddock layout, this year's Donington Historic Festival was even more accessible for all spectators, many of whom are already planning their return for the 2020 event.

As tradition dictates, at daybreak on the first Sunday in November more than 400 remarkable horseless carriages dating back to the dawn of motoring will set out from Hyde Park on their annual pilgrimage to Brighton on the Sussex coast.
As entries open today, almost exactly six months in advance of the annual pilgrimage from the capital to the coast, participants from across the globe can now sign up their pre-1905 cars for the 2019 Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
This year, the Run has a new-look website and a new entry management system so entrants can look forward to an updated and intuitive entry process which will make signing-up their veteran cars for the Run easier than ever.
Changing habits mean that over 40 per cent of those using the website and registering to take part in the Run now do so via a mobile device. It is for this reason that the official website and entry system have been significantly refreshed and are now fully device-responsive.
Commenting on the entries opening and redesigned website, Miles Wade, Club Secretary of the Royal Automobile Club, said: “To this day, the Run remains the Club’s flagship event, drawing in a truly international following every year. We always seek to provide the best experience possible for our participants and followers, and our revamped website and entry system contributes to this. The Run has a phenomenal heritage and, as its custodians, it’s important that we work to ensure that the Run is easy to access for our participants and all those who choose to follow this extraordinary event.”

DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL TO PROVIDE EPIC RETRO THROWBACK THIS WEEKEND
The Donington Historic Festival returns for a ninth year this weekend (3-5 May), with another fabulous retro throwback to motor racing of a bygone era at the East Midlands race circuit. Historic motorsport fans have until midday on Wednesday to grab their tickets at advance prices and make savings compared to gate prices.
Cars from the 1920s right up the 1990s will be in action at one of Donington's most popular events of the year, including several glorious machines similar to those that raced at Donington Park in the famous pre-war Grands Prix of the 1930s. Cars in action include single-seaters, touring and GT cars, Le Mans-style prototypes and sports cars, all with incredible history and many almost priceless in value.
As well as the fierce on-track action, there is a massive range of entertainment around the venue including Formula One displays, big car club showcase areas, Sporting Bears Dream Car passenger rides, Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypasts, themed trade areas, pit lane walks and track parades.
The open paddock policy at the circuit also means that all visitors can get up close and personal with the star cars, and a selection of star drivers too!
Advance discounted tickets are available until Wednesday 1 May and are priced from just £10. Children aged under 13 go free all weekend.
Stunning historic racing action
Hundreds of historic racing cars will be competing across the weekend. The oldest cars will take part in the 'Mad Jack' Pre-War Sports Car race on Saturday afternoon. This contest features a number of sprightly machines built prior to 1941, with iconic marques such as Alfa Romeo and Bentley battling it out wheel-to-wheel.
The Nuvolari and Ascari Trophy races for pre-1961 Grand Prix cars featuring Grand Prix cars from the 1930s to 1960, including the type of legendary single-seaters that first made Donington Park famous, while the popular Formula Junior category - the historic equivalent of modern-day Formula 4 - will be showcased with races for both front and rear-engined examples.
Classic Touring Cars will again be a big feature of the event, with several races for the 1950s and 1960s machines right up to cars built before 1991. Races include the U2TC for pre-66 under two-litre Touring Cars, HRDC Touring Greats for pre-1960 cars, HRDC Coys Trophy and the Historic Touring Car Challenge with Tony Dron Trophy.
Sports and sports-racing car action will come courtesy of the Jaguar Classic Challenge, Stirling Moss Trophy, Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, Pre-63 GT, and the GT and Sports Car Cup for pre-66 GT and pre-63 sportscars. Meanwhile, a mixture of sports and touring cars will do battle in the HRDC Allstars contest on Sunday morning.
Off-track highlights
In addition to three sensational days of action on the circuit, there is a huge programme of festivities taking place across the venue.
One of the key attractions is a Formula One car display, featuring an ex-Ayrton Senna Toleman and a Benetton driven by Michael Schumacher in 1992 and 1993. Other F1 cars include a Hesketh, Osella and a Honda from the Japanese manufacturer’s foray into the sport in the late 2000s. Many of these will be taking to the circuit for demonstrations throughout the event.
Other attractions include a historic karting area, which continues the Senna theme, with dozens of karts set to be on display and performing on a special karting circuit at the Launch Pad complex.
Up to a thousand cars are expected to be on display around the venue, thanks to a car club and classic display areas, with most of these being on the circuit infield. Visitors will also be able to enjoy passenger rides in some of these vehicles, with dream car trips in classic and supercars in aid of charity from the Sporting Bears Motor Club.
In addition, a number of the display cars will take to the track in parades during the lunch breaks, during which visitors will also be able to enjoy pit lane walkabouts.
Attention will turn to the skies on Saturday and Sunday with Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypasts. A BBMF Hawker Hurricane will be in the skies on Saturday, and a Douglas C-47 Dakota will impress on Sunday.
Finally, those wanting to take home the perfect souvenir after a great day at the races will be able to browse the numerous themed trade stalls selling a massive range of merchandise and memorabilia.

ACTION-PACKED TIMETABLE AND EXHILARATING GRID LINE-UP FOR 2019 DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL
The 2019 Donington Historic Festival promises to be the most action-packed yet. Fifteen grids will take to the track across 18 races when a hugely diverse range of more than 400 classic racing cars spanning nine decades converge on Donington Park from all over the world.
The provisional event timetable has just been released, and historic motorsport enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice when deciding whether to attend on May 3, 4 or 5 - with many likely to choose to book for all three! Friday, May 3 is qualifying day, when Festival visitors get to see all 15 grids put through their paces, while Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 have a wealth of full-on race action. The excitement continues during the lunch break, with close to contemporary F1 car demos and on-track parades.
DHF 2019 - the grids
New to DHF - in fact, new full-stop - is the Sportscar 2000 for 1961-71 two-litre cars. This brand new international historic series features 1300, 1600 and 2000 classes and, by excluding four-valve machines, provides a showcase that allows smaller-engined but highly exciting racing cars such as Porsche 904 and 906, Chevron B8, Lotus 23B, Abarth and Alfa Romeo TZ, to race against each other on a hugely entertaining and competitive ‘level playing field’.
A nod to Donington’s early history can be found in the Nuvolari and Ascari Trophy races for pre-1961 Front Engined GP cars. Organised by the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association and supported by Supagard and Hall & Hall, these will feature beautiful pieces of motor racing history dating from 1925 to 1961, with fabulous machines that raced in period in the hands of the biggest stars of the day, including the types of racers that graced Donington Park in the Grands Prix of the 1930s. Donington’s early history is also celebrated in the ‘Mad Jack’ Pre-War Sports Car race. Named after Richard ‘Mad Jack’ Shuttleworth, winner of the first-ever Donington Grand Prix in 1935, this sees Alfa Romeos, Frazer Nashes, Bugattis and Bentleys go wheel-to-wheel with diminutive Morgan 3-wheelers and tiny Austin Sevens.
There will be plenty of potent, four-wheeled glamour on the track and in the open-access paddock. The Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy features stunning pre-56 road-racing cars including C- and D-type Jaguars and 250S Maseratis, while ‘big cats’ galore will be out in the Jaguar Classic Challenge. The GT & Sports Car Cup showcases genuine pre-66 GT cars and pre-63 sports-racing cars of a type that was raced in the World Endurance Championship, while the Pre-63 GT features Short Wheelbase Ferraris, DB4GT Astons, AC Aces, SZ Alfas and Lotus Elites.
If the drivers of the Lotus 15s, Lister Jaguars, Lister Knobblys and Cooper Monacos in the Stirling Moss Trophy seem to be battling it out with an extra level of enthusiasm, it might have something to do with the fact that they’re competing for the actual cup that Sir Stirling Moss won in the 1955 British GP.
Making its DHF debut is the HRDC ‘Allstars’ grid for pre-66 sports, GT and Touring Cars. The HRDC grids are always hugely entertaining and this promises to maintain that tradition. Expect to see TVR Griffith vs Bill Thomas Cheetah, Austin-Healey Jamaican and Daimler 250SP ‘Dart’!
The ever-popular and reliably lively Formula Juniors return, with two FJHRA/HSCC ‘Silverline’ Championship grids. This formula was developed six decades ago as a way to train future Grand Prix drivers and was a proving ground for names such as Jim Clark, John Surtees and Jochen Rindt.
Tin-top fans won’t be disappointed either, with a timetable that includes five dedicated Touring Car races. The HRDC ‘Coys Trophy’ will see everything from Mini Coopers to Notchback and GT350 Ford Mustangs in the line-up of 1958-66 Touring Cars, while the pre-60 grid in the HRDC ‘Touring Greats’ is likely to showcase battles between Ford Thunderbirds and Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ti Berlinas, with a good helping of Austin A35 and A40s nipping around as well.
Ford Lotus Cortinas will be out in force in the U2TC, facing opposition from BMW 1800 TISAs and Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTAs, while the Historic Touring Car Challenge with Tony Dron Trophy brings together a fantastic array of beefy pre-1991 British and European Touring Cars. If BMW M3 E30s, RS500 Ford Sierra Cosworths, Chevrolet Camaros, Ford Capris and XJ12C Jaguars are your thing, this is definitely one not to miss.

As the great rock and roll classic song recommends, more than half a million visitors will be ‘getting their kicks’ at the Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show in central London on Saturday 3 November. Open from 10:30 to 16:00 the annual event set on the capital’s premier shopping destination is a highlight of the week-long London Motor Week organised by the Royal Automobile Club.
Firmly established as the country’s most popular free-to-view car-themed event, last year’s show attracted a record crowd of more than 520,000 and, once again, huge numbers of visitors are expected to savour a spectacle that features the full spectrum of automotive history, backed by the US state of Illinois.
From the dawn of motoring come more than 100 of the extraordinary pioneers that will be participating in the following day’s famous Bonhams London to Brighton Run Veteran Car Run supported by Hiscox. Dating back to pre-1905 and bursting with period innovations, these amazing machines are always a huge draw on Regent Street which is pedestrianised between Piccadilly and Oxford Circuses especially for the occasion.
Adding yet more interest and sparkle, many of the owners attend in period Victorian or Edwardian dress – what’s more, the amazing collection of horseless carriages are entered into a Concours d’Elegance judged by a panel of well-known personalities and renowned experts. This year’s awards ceremony will be presented by well-known television gardener, author and classic car lover Alan Titchmarsh MBE.
While the rarely-seen numbers of eye-catching veterans are always a huge crowd-pleaser, they are just one of the dazzling show’s countless attractions. Bringing the story right up-to-date, manufacturers such as Renault and Triumph will be displaying their latest creations on four and two wheels while a stunning collection of supercars is certain to be another huge draw. The roster of 200+mph rocket-ships includes a Pagani Zonda, Ford GT and no fewer than three lush Lamborghinis.
Classic cars, too, will be on show with a pride of much-loved Jaguars lining-up alongside a posse of equally evocative Volkswagen Beetles while, for retro motor sport fans, the Silverstone Classic will be out in force displaying golden age F1 and Le Mans racers that will be on track at next summer’s fun-fuelled festival.
Motor sport fans will also be stirred by the special one-off presence of competition cars celebrating the 60th anniversaries of both premier MSA British Rally and MSA British Touring Car Championships – the latter represented by Colin Turkington’s recent title-winning BMW 125i M Sport.
The new Kids’ Zone is gearing up to be another popular addition offering children a chance to experience the excitement of electric karts plus a ride in the Top Gear Experience simulator as well as a host of other interactive entertainments.
The event’s charity partner – the Movember Foundation – will also be exhibiting again this year with lots of moustache-friendly activities throughout the day, including a pop-up barbershop and themed games as well as lots of ‘mo-merch’ up for grabs such as a collection of limited-edition motoring pin badges which will be available to purchase.
Lastly and perhaps most importantly, to ensure that all those attending really do ‘get their kicks’, event title partner Illinois will be paying homage to the fabled Route 66. America’s celebrated ‘Mother Road’ starts in Chicago and travels its first 300-miles through the mid-west State – a route that is steeped in legend, nostalgic eats, quirky museums and more kitsch than you can shake a restored 1940’s gas pump at!
Giving visitors to Regent Street an insight into what remains one of the greatest road trips on Earth, the Visit Illinois display features a number of iconic US street machines including a Ford Thunderbird, Dodge Charger, Pontiac Trans-Am, 1957 Chevy Pick-up plus, of course, a pair of charismatic Harley Davidson Sportsters.
“There really is something for all ages and interests at this year’s Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show,” enthused Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club. “Those with a passion for cars will love the incredible variety of machinery on display while there’s so many other attractions for more casual visitors of all ages to enjoy. Moreover, all Regent Street’s eminent stores are open, providing all-comers with a great opportunity to start their Christmas shopping.”

A pride of prowling Jaguars will be one of the many highlights at next month’s Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show in central London on Saturday 3 November. Instagram
The presence of iconic models from one of Britain’s most loved automotive marques is sure to be a huge crowd-pleaser at the country’s most popular free-to-view motor show, a Royal Automobile Club event which last year drew more than half a million visitors to the capital’s famous thoroughfare, pedestrianised between Piccadilly and Oxford Circuses.
Organised by the ever-enthusiastic Jaguar Drivers’ Club, the special display will showcase some major milestones in Jaguar’s illustrious history with an eye-catching collection of the company’s significant models from bygone eras.
It is exactly 70 years since the seminal XK120 sportscar was first launched at the British Motor Show at Earl’s Court – just a stone’s throw from Regent Street. With an affordable price tag, stunning drop-top styling plus Jaguar’s all-new six-cylinder engine endowing the two-seater roadster with a fantastic turn of speed, the trailblazing XK120 put Jaguar on the world map.
It was clearly a busy year for the Coventry Cats at the famous Browns Lane factory as the Mark V was also introduced at Earl’s Court in 1948 – a four-door executive saloon which immediately proved popular with businessmen and even heads of state. Like the XK120, it similarly boasted a sporting pedigree, notably when scoring a Monte Carlo Rally podium in 1951.
Dazzling examples of both septuagenarians will be on Regent Street to mark their respective sapphire anniversaries, where they will be rubbing bumpers with a number of XJ saloons. First unveiled 50 years ago in 1968, the XJ has been Jaguar’s flagship model for the past five decades, offering a wonderful mix of performance, space, style and luxury. Models illustrating the XJ’s long-running evolution will add yet another head-turning dimension to this very special showcase.
Now firmly established as one of the must-attend highlights on the calendars of both car fans and Londoners, the esteemed Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show takes place on the eve of the annual Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run supported by Hiscox and provides visitors with the rare opportunity to see the full kaleidoscope of automotive history.
From the dawn of motoring, the show includes more than 100 of the remarkable pre-1905 horseless carriages as they prepare for their pilgrimage from capital to coast. Adding to the pageant, many of the drivers and passengers appear in period dress. The presence of the Jaguar anniversary collection will be one of the many features on the closed street, bringing the motoring story more up-to-date. Others include state-of-the-art electric cars from Renault, a display of modern day supercars and the latest motorbikes from Triumph.
The Illinois Route 66 Regent Street Motor Show – open from 10:30 to 16:00 – is a key event in the week-long London Motor Week run by the Royal Automobile Club.
