LBHVR - TOGETHER WE ARE CHANGING THE FACE OF MEN’S HEALTH

TOGETHER WE ARE CHANGING THE FACE OF MEN’S HEALTH

With the Bonhams Veteran Car Run supported by Hiscox less than a month away we wanted to shine a spotlight on our charity partner The Movember Foundation.

Men’s health is in crisis, with men dying six years younger than women for largely preventable reasons. Movember is the only men’s health charity working on a global scale to tackle the biggest issues facing men - prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

This Movember we are calling upon the Run participants and spectators to join the fight. Sign up at movember.com and help raise money that will fund vital research into these areas and ultimately stop men dying too young.
MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE PREVENTION

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Three out of four suicides are men and sadly we lose a man to suicide every minute of every day.

The causes of suicide are complex. There’s no single reason why men take their own lives, but Movember do know that by improving overall mental health we can reduce the risk of suicide. The charity is looking at mental health through a male lens, and taking action at a community level to find solutions that work for men.
PROSTATE CANCER

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK; we lose one man to prostate cancer every 45 minutes. As the largest global funder of prostate cancer programs, the Movember Foundation are determined to reduce this number.
TESTICULAR CANCER
Testicular cancer strikes early; it is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young men in the UK.

If diagnosed and treated early the outcome for men with testicular cancer is positive, but a 95% chance of survival is no comfort to the 1 man in 20 who won’t make it. Movember have pledged to half the number of men dying from testicular cancer by 2030.
