Porsche at Prescott is a brand-new event taking place at Prescott Hill Climb (Home of the Bugatti Owners’ Club) on Saturday 22 June 2019. The event which was proposed by competitors in the Porsche Hillclimb championship will pay homage to the iconic German marque and is actively supported by the Bugatti Owners Club, Porsche Centre Tewkesbury and Porsche Club GB.

As part of the Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship, a full field of 35 Porsches including two previous Porsche Hillclimb champions will be competing at the UK’s most famous hill climb course, from air-cooled classics to the latest mid-engined models with transaxles thrown into the mix for good measure.

The paddock will also be graced with a mouth-watering display of iconic Porsches such as the iconic 956/007 Group C sports-prototype racing car designed by Norbert Singer and built by Porsche in 1982 for the FIA World Sportscar Championship as raced by Derek Bell and Stefan Bellof. In 1983, Bellof set the fastest record at Nürburgring (12.93 mi) in 6:11 during the qualifying of the 1000 km Sports Car race, a record which stood for a staggering 35 years.

Other fantastic examples of Stuttgart power include 1973, Porsche 911 2.8 RSR previously owned by ex-world rally champion and racer Bjorn Waldegard. This car is one of only 55 factory race cars and has an extensive race history. Another rare example of the marque is 2009, Porsche 997 4.0 RSR. This car is one of only 20 cars built. The car has competed 5 times at Le Mans, and in 29 FIA World Endurance (WEC) races and was semi-works supported with factory drivers.

As well as Championship and invitational Classes for Porsches, the event will see the welcome return of the MAC Sunrise, SBD/HSA Speed, Midland Speed Championships along with a round of Prescott’s New Barn 'B' Licence Roadgoing Championship.

Off the track, the Orchard zone will showcase a large gathering of high-performance Porsche sports cars, SUVs and sedans representing all eras of the brand. Plus guaranteed to bring a lot of hand clapping, thigh-slapping fun to Porsche at Prescott will be The Bierkeller Boys Oompah Band, the lederhosen-clad trio have performed for the likes of Ant & Dec, Stephen Mulhern, Dermot O’Leary, Keith Lemon and Vernon Kay. You can grab a beer or Prescott ale from the clubhouse and soak up the marvellous atmosphere, stunning views and top class racing at one of the oldest hill climbs in the world - Herrlich!

DAILY CAVALCADE AND BONNETS GALORE FOR EASTER AT BEAULIEU

There are Bonnets Galore for Easter at Beaulieu when the attraction comes to life with amazing motors being brought out of the National Motor Museum and driven in daily cavalcades around the grounds of the attraction from April 6th to Easter Monday, April 22nd.

Inside the museum, bonnets will also be lifted to reveal the engineering excellence of legendary Land Speed Record-breaking Blue Bird - the 1920 Sunbeam 350hp, as well as the 1899 Renault, 1924 Bugatti Type 35, 1948 Land Rover prototype, 1950 RT London Bus and 1959 Austin Mini which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Out on the arena, watch historic motors in the daily cavalcade with a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang reconstruction and vehicles spanning motoring history from the Victorian penny farthing to the classic 1963 Ford Cortina. Look out for the yellow AA motorcycle and sidecar, 1904 De Dion Bouton, 1927 Austin 12/4, 1938 Morris Eight and wartime 1943 Willys Jeep.*

For bonnets of a different kind, visit Palace House where you will find Easter bonnets and Victorian costumes to try on for a selfie opportunity. Roll up your sleeves in the Victorian Kitchen and help Lord Montagu’s cook roll out Easter biscuits, talk to costumed guides about life in the 19th century and join in with Easter craft activities. Younger visitors can also have their face painted with Easter designs.

Fill in our new travel log to create memories from your visit and complete the fun activities, fascinating questions and drawings, then collect stamps at each part of the attraction. There’s plenty to celebrate at this year’s Motorfest with a new home at the stunning Chetwynd Deer Park, Shropshire, two days of family fun on Easter Sunday 21 and Easter Monday 22 April, and the milestone of a British icon as the show marks the 60^th birthday of the Mini.

Visitors to this beautiful location can expect up to 1,000 classic vehicles spanning from the 1930s to the 1990s, so they will be guaranteed something for every taste. Alongside the impressive array of British family favourites from the likes of Ford, Hillman, and Wolseley there are American muscle cars and sporting classics from Porsche and TVR. There really is something for everyone, and the enticing selection of classic commercial vehicles, custom, and kit cars are the icing on the cake.

This year is even more special as Motorfest will be celebrating the 60^th anniversary of the legendary Mini. Owners of classic and modern Minis are being encouraged to display their cars with the offer of a free place if they book tickets for Easter Monday using code 60MINIMON.

Guaranteed to be a wonderful celebration of Alec Issigonis’s brilliant small car, the show’s organisers already have some great examples lined up, from an early 1964 Mini that is sure to draw a crowd to a 1968 Mini Cooper. But later models feature too including a 1991 Mini Studio 2, a special edition that boasted unique trim and badges.

Event director Stephen Smith said: “You can’t let the birthday of such a British icon go past unmarked and with so much more space available to us at Chetwynd Deer Park than in previous years, we can’t wait to get the party started!”

Along with the terrific vehicles on display at Motorfest, sponsored by ClassicLine, visitors will also be able to chat to more than thirty local classic car clubs, as well as enjoying browsing an array of trade stands and the autojumble. Anyone looking for that hard-to-find part for their own car might just discover it here.

And there is plenty more of course. Alongside the live arena that will see action take place across both days, there is the Pride of Ownership display as well as the ‘Decibel Duel’ where judges will be looking for the loudest car at the show. And at 4pm on Monday the winner of the concours competition will be announced.

But it’s not just about classic cars as there will be something to entertain the whole family including live music from The Quik Beats on Sunday and The Del Ray Rockers on Monday.

Plus, there’s an Easter Egg hunt, free face painting, children’s disco and an appearance from Elsa from Disney’s Frozen each day to keep the smaller visitors happy.

RALLYING WITH GROUP B ATTRACTS EX-WORKS AND WRC CHAMPS TO RACE RETRO, POWERED BY MOTOR SPORT

This year’s Race Retro, powered by Motor Sport, has received a record number of entries for the Live Rally Stage, organised by Rallying with Group B (RWGB), with some amazing ex-works cars and motorsport legends celebrated.

Held from 22-24 February, Race Retro will transform the grounds of Stoneleigh Park on Saturday and Sunday to create some high-octane live action with over 250 entries considered for the final list of ‘runners and riders.’

Those who did make it into the Parc Ferme include Chris Robson’s 1982 Citroen Visa UK ex-works rally car, the first purpose-built rally car to be homologated into Group B. The winner of the Up to 1300cc Class of the Pace/Autosport National Rally Championship and was runner-up in the Group B category of the Rothmans Open Rally Championship with John Weatherley at the wheel.

EGN 78X was part of a two-car assault by Citroen UK on the Rothmans Manx International in 1983, driven by Konrad Bartelski, Britain’s most successful world cup downhill skier, with co-driver Neil Wilson, and sponsored by Penthouse Magazine. This car was runner up in the championship with a class win behind John Weatherley and Ronan Morgan in the later works Citroen Visa Chrono Evolution.

Warren Philliskirk’s crowd-thrilling Renault 6R4 was built by John Price and won many tarmac rallies and championships in John’s very capable hands. Warren purchased the car in 1995 and has campaigned 62 rallies including the Icelandic Rally, winning five national rallies and the BTRDA championship in 1997. 

Ex-World Champion Juha Kankkunen’s 1999 World Rally Championship (WRC) winning Subaru will be in action. Now owned by Will Nicholls, it also won Rally Finland in 1999. Dave Kenwood’s ex-factory Opel Calibra 4x4 will also be on the start line. It was driven by ex-World Champion Stig Blomqvist on the 1993 round of the WRC.

Other Championship cars include David Wright’s Ford Focus which was campaigned by Carlos Sainz and Petter Solberg during the 2000 WRC and secured its best WRC result on the Rallye Automobile de Monte-Carlo 2000 driven by Carlos to second overall. The Pilot Ford Cosworth, driven to victory by M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson in the 1994 British Championship and now owned by George Gauld will also be in action.

Other Fords include Clayton Parmenter’s factory M-Sport built development super Puma 1600, previously driven by ex-British champion Dai Llewellyn and current WRC works driver Kris Meeke; Michael Anderson’s Cosworth Ford Cosworth, an original Ford Motorsport France factory car was first used by Frederik Balaresque in the French Rally Championship before being reregistered as Spanish in the early 90s and campaigned by the late Juan Luis Sarasola.

RWGB organiser Tim Foster said: “The quantity of entries for Race Retro this year has been amazing but the quality of the vehicles that enthusiasts will be able to see up close and in action is off the charts!”

'Nellie' was built in 1945 at Republic's Evansville factory in Indiana. Serialled 45-49192 the aircraft was built originally as a P-47D-40-RA. Detail of its service with the USAAF is not known, although it did serve with the Air Training Command during the last few months of the War, and was eventually stored at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma with the Air Material Command. CELEBRATES THE LEGACY OF LE MANS

Race Retro, powered by Motor Sport, will celebrate the legacy of Le Mans with a display of iconic vehicles that have competed at what is arguably the most famous motor race in the world.

There is no better place to celebrate the achievements of Le Mans 24 Hours than within the Motor Sport Hall of Fame Live at Race Retro, held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, from February 22-24, 2019

Organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and first run in 1923, the race might have seen its fair share of tragedy over the years - its darkest moment came in 1955 when more than 80 people lost their lives following an accident - but it should be remembered for its triumphs and for the supremely competitive spirit of the teams and drivers that compete every year.

The past 95 years have created some amazing moments for fans of endurance racing. Who can forget the legendary exploits of the ‘Bentley Boys’, and then there was Porsche’s dominance of the challenging circuit that saw them become the most successful winners in the event’s history. Four straight wins by the awesome Ford GT40 is special, too, while the likes of Jaguar, Mercedes, and Ferrari and many more have all tasted victory at La Sarthe.

And it’s not just car makers as the race acts as a veritable whos-who of the world’s most famous drivers with the likes of Jochen Rindt, Mike Hawthorn, Bruce McLaren, and Derek Bell all tasting victory. And then there’s Belgian ace, Jacky Ickx, who currently stands second in the list of all-time winners with six victories to his name, including the GT40 win some 50 years ago in 1969.

 Visitors to the Motor Sport Hall of Fame Live will have the opportunity to admire an exciting line-up of Le Mans racers with some very special displays planned, and one must-see car is the Audi R8C. Audi made its debut at the 24-hour race in 1999 with R8s finishing in third and fourth places, and it would go on to take overall victory on 13 occasions. 

Audi is also famous for entering the R10 TDI, the first diesel-powered racer to win Le Mans. With such an impressive contribution to the history of the tough event, the R8C is just one of the thrilling machines that enthusiasts of endurance racing won’t want to miss at this year’s Race Retro.

“The Le Mans 24 Hours is a motor race like no other,” says Acting Show Director, Lee Masters. “With a history stretching back almost 100 years it sits at the very pinnacle of motorsport, which is why we are very proud to be celebrating its legacy at this year’s show.”

The Motor Sport Hall of Fame Live will also include other racing and rally cars, with a number of key milestones celebrated, along with special guests, many of whom will be interviewed on the Motor Sport Live Stage.
