As we move through the year the auctions come thick & fast and next up on the block is Brightwells
Spring sale. With over 140 automobile lots there is plenty to choose from, added to that there are 10+ Scooters & Motorbike lots to complete this latest offering.
For the restorer amongst you there are a few interesting lots, starting with a 1974 Triumph Toledo with a believed genuine mileage of just 35,000miles at a guide price of £300 -500 it looks a good punt. Offered as a straightforward resto is a 1952 Triumph Mayflower guided at £1000-1500 and is described by the current owner as being"very solid and original" ticking with restorations our attention is drawn to a1949 Land Rover Series 1 80" said to be remarkably sound & original and at a estimate of £4000-6000 a worthwhile investment a over the pat few years prices have increased with top examples selling for £30,000+.
When previewing sales you can sometimes something unexpected & Brightwells serve up a bit of a curve ball with a 1951 Morris Oxford Stretch Limousine, restored & strtched by renoened Sidney Jackson & Sons of Macclesfield at a cost of £20,000 in 2004 , the car wa built for the movie "The Borrowers" and iss powered by a Ford Pinto 2 litre lump. The only problem I can see is finding space in the garage, estimated at £5,000-6.000 not much money for a film star.
