PIRELLI PRESTIGE & PERFORMANCE COMPETITION CROWNS ONE-OF-ONE PAGANI’ ZONDA ‘OLIVER’ EVOLUTION AS ‘BEST OF SHOW
Blenheim Palace 3rd September: In excess of 1,200 of the world’s most sensational supercars and sought-after classics appeared this Sunday at the Blenheim Palace Classic & Supercar on Sunday, 2nd September to the delight of over 15,000 visiting enthusiasts.
In a very short time frame, Blenheim Palace Classic & Supercar has fast become Oxfordshire’s very own Motor Show. With the majority of super, luxury and hypercar marques represented alongside well-known classic car specialists and dealers, upwards of 400 Porsche models joined this year’s event to help celebrate the iconic marque’s 70th birthday to create a truly automotive bonanza!.
Central to the day’s activities was the Pirelli Prestige & Performance Competition. Located within the spectacular Great Court at Blenheim Palace, it was the fourth consecutive year for Pirelli to headline this unique competition which featured 80 hand-picked supercars from 1978 to the present day, all competing for the prestigious Pirelli ‘Best of Show’ award. The cars were presented in eight different classes as follows: ‘Evolution of the Sportscar’, ‘Open-Top Porsche’, ‘Porsche 911 GTs’, ‘Super V8s’, ‘Hypercars’, ‘Pure McLaren’, ‘Targas & Cabs’ and ‘200 MPH Club’.
A panel of automotive industry experts including well-known designers such as Marek Reichman and Frank Stephenson adjudicated over the competition with well-known television presenter and self-proclaimed petrol-head, Nikki Shields, acting as MC. An exceptional 2016 Pagani Zonda ‘Oliver’ Evolution was awarded the Pirelli Best of Show, with the same car also victorious in the popular Hypercars class. A 2016 MSO McLaren 675LT Spider took the Peoples’ Choice prize.
