Dates
confirmed for 2015 Donington Historic Festival
Fans of historic
motorsport have an important new date for their diaries, as the 2015 Donington
Historic Festival is confirmed for the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 2nd,
Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May.
Festival founder,
Duncan Wiltshire, said, “Within just a few years this event has become a major
fixture on the international calendar, and one which goes from strength to
strength. The mixture of world-class historic motor racing and open-access
paddock, off-track attractions such as classic rally and karting demos and a
wide range of car club displays, plus the inimitable Donington Park atmosphere,
has made it a firm favourite with spectators. This goes for everyone from
long-time classic motorsport enthusiasts to those who have never seen a
historic race car in action before.”
The sheer variety of
cars taking part is another major ‘pull’ for the Donington Historic Festival.
With racing machines spanning some seven decades – from the 1920s to the 1980s
– and everything from single-seaters to GT cars, sportscars and Touring Cars
competing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
As well as its hard-fought
racing from hugely skilled drivers (including a number of the ‘big names’ from the history of the sport), and the beauty,
rarity, provenance and value of the race cars themselves, the Festival is also
renowned for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This makes it popular with
families looking for a great day out, and an ideal way to introduce the younger
generation to a hugely entertaining spectacle.
