RALLY ROUND NEWS September 2015

RALLY ROUND NEWS September 2015
Welcome to Rally Round's September Newsletter. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful summer with plenty of sunshine!

An Indian summer is certainly on the cards for the Rally Round team as we make final preparations for theThunder Dragon Rally, which starts from Kolkata (Calcutta) on Sunday 1 November. We are pleased to report that we saw all the cars safely loaded at the CARS Europe base at Chedburgh, Suffolk, and they are now on their way to India. As the start of the rally draws closer, the excitement is mounting!

The Thunder Dragon Rally was fully subscribed, and our two major 2016 events are proving very popular too. Entries for the Paris to Vienna (13-18 June) and the Haka Classic Rally in New Zealand (30 October-25 November) are arriving daily at Rally Round HQ.

If you would like to know more about these adventures, please email us or give us a call. We will happily advise or send further information.
2016 Haka Classic Rally
Although it is still 12 months away, the Haka Classic Rally in New Zealand has attracted some great entries from Europe and America. Our recce team is led by Rhys Nolan, whose local motorsport experience makes him superbly well qualified for the task - you can read about his background onTeam Page of our website.

As well as sampling the best food and hospitality the country has to offer, rally participants will explore some of the world's most breathtaking scenery, following remote routes such as the iconic Acheron Road through Molesworth Station and enjoying tests at race circuits such as  Manfeild and Hampton Downs. New additions to an already fabulous itinerary include a visit to theWhakarewarena Living Maori Village and Waimangu Volcanic Valley as well as an exclusive whale-watching tour going out from Kaikoura.

Confirmed entries to date include Brits David Royds and Natasha Newman in their 1921 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, David and Barbara Berks in their 1929 Chrysler 75 and old friends Adrian and Barbara Shooter, who are also taking part in the Thunder Dragon Rally.

They will be joined in NZ by no fewer than six crews from Germany, including husband and wife Andreas and Jacqueline Pohl, their daughters Nathalie and Nicola Pohl and Robert and Gabi Peil, all of whom have yet to decide which cars they will all drive. Also entered are compatriots Jörg and Petra Lemberg in a 1938 Lagonda LG 45 Rapide, Georg Lemberg and Isabel Peil in a 1960 Porsche Roadster and Gerd Bühler and Birgit Deymann-Bühler, who are also joining us on both the Thunder Dragon Rally and Paris-Vienna but have yet to decide what car they will campaign in New Zealand. Confirmed entries also include Steven Harris and Hayden Burvill from the USA, Justin Gan from Australia and Petr Uhlir and Petr Kejdus from the Czech Republic.

If you would like more information, you may read or download the brochure from the 2016 Haka Classic page of the Rally Round website. Alternatively you may send an email to the Rally Round office or telephone us on +44 1252 794 100.

Rally Round at Goodwood Revival
Rally Round will have a stand at the Goodwood Revivalthis weekend, 11-13 September.

If you are attending this magical event, do come along to Stand 402 in the "Over the Road" area, just outside the main circuit entrance, and say hello to Liz Wenman, Heidi Winterbourne and the rest of the Rally Round team, all of whom will be happy to answer any questions you may have about forthcoming events or any aspect of vintage and classic rallying. Our lead mechanic Charlie McGowan will also be present to advise on technical matters.
We hope to see you there!
And finally....!
Our digital mechanics are currently working under the bonnet of the Rally Round website, rebuilding the engine for greater performance. We hope you like the improvements we are making. Keep an eye on the news and event pages in particular, and remember occasionally to refresh them in your internet browser to ensure you get the very latest updates.

Right now we're now off to the Goodwood Revival, so do come and visit us if you can. We are on Stand 402 in the "Over the Road" area.

Safe and happy driving!
