On Saturday 8 August we’re hosting a Members’ Day with a special invitation to the NHCA Motor Cycle riders. Along with the opportunity for BOC members to run at their local hill and we’ll see many drivers competing for the first time plus plenty of experienced competitors.
First out on the hill will be the National Hill Climb Association of Motor Cycles class with an assortment of two and three wheeled machines competing. Look out for Martin Robbins who will be trying to beat his hill record in his 380cc KTM.
This event also sees the 5th round of the Cheltenham Porsche Specialist’ ‘B’ Licence Championship, which at the moment is led by Graham Holdstockdriving his Caterham, t closely pursued by three saloon car drivers, John Steven, Simon Cox and Ryan Eamer. These competitors are all competing on handicap, trying to improve on their target times (get yourself a programme to check these out).
Four more car classes feature an assortment of members in sports and saloon cars. Ranging from Minis and vintage Lagondas followed by a small class of Marcos Owners’ Club drivers in action. |

The 8th round of the Aldon Automotive Classic Championship will be well supported and the championship is currently led by Garry Cox in his super-quick Reliant Scimitar although sadly Garry won’t be at this meeting. Looking to capitalise on Garry’s absence will beSimon Braithwaite and Lawrence Alexander, who both sit hot on his heels in the Alfa Romeo saloons. This classic championship is split into three classes with racing, sports and saloon classes;Nick Stephens leads the racing car class in his gorgeous red Lotus and the sports car class sees the orange Porsche of Peter Hall out in front.
The Members’ racing car class has an interesting selection of single seaters and these will all run on a handicap basis to even things up. One thing is for sure, the outright fastest time of the day will come from this class with the Andy McBeath OMS or the TKD-powered Reynard of local couple Trish and Terry Davis favourites.
The Locaterfield type car class will see some close competition and former hill climb champion Roger Moran will be keen to maintain his recent form in the Caterham.
Finally a small class of Vintage Bugattis are sure to entertain with their runs centred around the lunch break.
So, Prescott and some top class racing is waiting for you, so find a comfortable place to watch, sit back and enjoy the day. |
