The Club’s final Race Meeting of the season approaches with our Seaman Memorial Trophies at Snetterton this Sunday 27 September where we look forward to hosting another exciting 10-Race Programme of Pre-war and Historic Racing (CLICK HERE for more information).
The VSCC has enjoyed a busy few weeks since our last Race Meeting at Mallory Park, including a record capacity entry for our Hill Climb Season finale at Loton Park on 12/13 September, for which you will find Final Results attached.
A frequent winner in the hands of previous owner James Baxter, the Frazer Nash Norris Special was on top once more in the hands of Julian Grimwade, winner of the TT Humber Trophy, whilst Phoebe Rolt set the overall Fastest Time of the Day, competing in her Elva Formula Junior in the Invited Post-war Classes. Elsewhere, it was another Fastest Vintage accolade this season for Tony Lees in the AC/GN ‘Cognac’ whilst Raymond Knight was recipient of the unique Tidd & Ingham Trophy in Sarah Foster’s Riley 9 Special – awarded to the 10th Slowest of the Fastest Times overall.
There were plenty of familiar faces amongst the weekend’s Class Winners too, including Jo Blakeney-Edwards (Frazer Nash), John Guyatt (Talbot-Lago), David Pryke (Morgan/Riley) and Dougal Cawley (GN/Ford) in the Sports-Cars Classes, and Winston Teague (GN Wasp) and Pete Candy (Riley) in the Racing Cars, whilst Mark Walker topped the Edwardian standings once again in the mighty Darracq 200HP.
Away from the track, the Air Cadets of 2364 Squadron (Welshpool) provided welcome assistance to our hard-working local team, assisting with Car Parking and Programme selling duties on Sunday, whilst Saturday evening’s annual Hog Roast for Competitors/Marshals proved another great social addition to the event.
Meanwhile, September also saw the Club attend the Bonhams Sales at both Beaulieu and the Goodwood Revival with another great number of Club Members heavily involved in both events, the former with their Autojumble, the latter seeing many taking to the track, particularly in the Pre-war Goodwood and Brooklands Trophy Races.
Following Snetterton this coming weekend, our next and final public event of the year will be our ever-popular Autumn Sprint at Goodwood on Saturday 24 October..
