CanAm, Nascars and Indycars are heading to Prescott

It’s a great day out for all the family y’all!
The popular American themed Autumn Classic returns to Prescott Speed Hill Climb, Cheltenham on Saturday 30 September - Sunday 1 October 2017. The all-American Stars and Stripes event celebrates the biggest and brashest cars this side of the pond. The action-packed weekend attracts a wide variety of cars competing on the historic hill climb course with special classes for American cars and hot rods, as well as spectacular American vehicles displays a dedicated ‘Show n Shine’ area and fantastic USA-themed entertainment from the thrilling Demon Drome Wall of Death to live bands and Vegas Showgirls.

The racing paddock will feature an awesome display of American classics from Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Chevys, Hot Rods to Indians motorcycles and Custom Choppers. This year also includes an impressive lineup of CanAm, Nascars and Indycars all of which will appear on track. Notable vehicles include the Penske PC22 Indy car Chassis #01 raced by Stefan Johansson to 11th place in the 1993 Indianapolis 500. The vehicle is one of eight cars built by Penske and was the Teams test car tested by Emerson Fittipaldi and Paul Tracy. It is widely regarded as the nicest looking Penske of its era it runs on methanol and is fitted with its original Ilmor 265C engine giving around 790hp at 14,000rpm.

Several famous Camaros include the famous Roger Penske 1969 Camaro Z28 Penske Sunoco. Joining it will be the iconic 1977 Chevrolet Camaro black 7 International Race of Champions car formally raced by Al Unser which Fittipaldi dubbed 'lucky number seven' due to its very prestigious accomplishments on the racing circuit plus there will be the 1976 Group 2 Faberge Brut Chevrolet Camaro. The latter Camaro races extensively at Goodwood and is considered by many as the ultimate Group 2 saloon. Historic British Saloon Car Racing driver Stuart Graham and its owner Nigel Garrett will demonstrate the 7.4 litre Chevrolet big block, 600bhp Faberge-liveried beast. Throughout the ‘70s, Stuart Graham’s big V8 Chevrolet Camaro was the car to beat in the British Championships.

DEMON DROME WALL OF DEATH

Off track the oldest surviving Wall of Death the ‘Demon Drome’ dare devil riders will cheat gravity on their 1920's Indian motorcycles, performing amazing feats of virtuosity within mere feet of your eyes. As ‘Dynomyte Dave’ Seymour said “We want to keep the Demon Drome true to its roots but keep innovating and putting on the best shows we can”. Each year they wow the crowds and this year will be no exception. The roar of the bikes thundering up the wooden walls is loud, adrenalin is high and the acrobatics is thrilling. They are performing four times a day and entry is included in the event ticket price.
PRESCOTT’S HOT ROCKIN’ MAIN STAGE

Prescott’s main stage will host non-stop ‘Hot Rockin’ live bands throughout the weekend including the ‘Kings of Swing’ the talented Ding Dong Daddios performing an infectious blend of Jump Jive and Swing with a hint of early rock and roll.  Making their debut is Jon Clare and The Fabulous Doughboys – think Jerry Lee Lewis, but there will be no ‘Great Balls of Fire’ being a motor sport venue! Plus the marvelous songstress Betsy Harmony and the return of the popular Lady & The Sax – all guaranteed to have you up on the dancefloor. There is even Lindy Hop and Swing dance teachers and students on site to give advice on local classes.
PRESCOTT WELCOMES ‘MILES FOR SMILES’ CHARITY

Plus Prescott will be supporting ‘Miles for Smiles’ a newly formed charity founded by local American car owner Brett Pillinger. Prescott will host special guests from Acorn's Children's Hospice (Local to Prescott) who will be treated to a fun-filled day out. Thanks to the members of the VHRA and Swindon Rod n Custom car clubs the children and their families and carers will be treated to passenger rides.
